Press Release

Cadcorp hosts Australian user gathering in Sydney office.

Customers from New South Wales get a sneak preview of next version of Cadcorp SIS – Spatial Information System.

Digital mapping and geographic information systems (GIS) software developer Cadcorp recently hosted a user meeting for its Australian customers based in New South Wales (NSW). Held on Thursday, 4th August, a variety of users from the State, together with Cadcorp Australian distributor, Integrated Facilities Management (IFM), gathered for an afternoon meeting in Cadcorp's offices in central Sydney.

The meeting covered a number of subjects including a preview of Cadcorp SIS V6.2, which is scheduled to begin shipping early October. Several of the new capabilities being introduced into Cadcorp SIS were of particular interest to the audience, including: wider support for OGC Web Services, GPS support, an increase to almost 150 supported data formats (including AutoCAD DXF/DWG 2004+, ESRI ArcIMS Feature Service, EXIF (EXchangeable Image Format) for GPS referenced images, ESRI ArcSDE, Oracle 10g GeoRaster, Oracle 10g Network Model and PostGIS), and an enhanced geodetic buffer function to create a buffer around selected geometries.

In addition, Australian distributor IFM, used the event to launch SIS-Enquiry.NET. This is a Web-based version of the company’s existing SIS-Enquiry application and is built on Cadcorp GeognoSIS.NET, which extends the use of Cadcorp SIS for use over the Internet or a corporate intranet. It is aimed at local government users and integrates with a range of popular back office systems used by Australian local authorities and allows many desktop functions to be performed from a Web Browser. From user feedback on the day, it is anticipated that a number of councils plan to implement the system.
