Press Release

London Borough of Hounslow purchases Cadcorp SIS software via S-CAT for its corporate GIS

Cadcorp, the developer of the popular Cadcorp SIS - Spatial Information System - digital mapping/GIS software suite, has announced that it has won a tender to provide software and services to the London Borough of Hounslow (LBH) for its corporate GIS.

LBH had a requirement for a corporate GIS system and used the S-CAT procurement mechanism to source their software and services. To satisfy a requirement for Web-based GIS development and deployment, LBH chose Cadcorp's new flagship Web product, GeognoSIS.NET. A number of developer and deployment licences was selected for Web servers operating multiple processors. The tender deal also includes the supply of Cadcorp SIS Map Modeller, which is packaged up with Cadcorp's Ordnance Survey (OS) PAI Manager tool and OS MasterMap data loader at no extra cost, plus a number of Cadcorp SIS Map Editor desktop licences.

Cadcorp will provide a range of professional services to LBH. These include the development of a Web-based GIS application, project management, consultancy, software implementation and training to provide a foundation on which LBH can build in order to contribute to delivering their e-government objectives.

Fiona Willis, corporate GIS project manager at LBH stated: "The London Borough of Hounslow selected Cadcorp SIS to be its corporate GIS following an assessment of the software with regard to meeting our business specifications. A key factor in this decision was the open and interoperable functionality provided. There is a variety of GIS and CAD users at LBH and it is important that the file formats can be integrated as efficiently as possible."

She added, "The Cadcorp Web product (GeognoSIS.NET) is built on the .Net framework, ensuring Hounslow can be confident its corporate system will be developed using the latest technology. Further, the Cadcorp product suite was competitively priced and LBH received complimentary references from UK local authorities currently using Cadcorp products. LBH is now looking forward to working in partnership with Cadcorp to successfully implement its corporate GIS."

"We are extremely pleased that the London Borough of Hounslow, after careful scrutiny of the market, chose Cadcorp SIS" stated Mike O'Neil, managing director, Cadcorp. "Again we have seen the importance of interoperability, our support for many different data formats and the need for a combined desktop and Web-based GIS deployment. We are very grateful to our reference sites willing to share their experiences of Cadcorp SIS with potential purchasers. We are confident that the use of Cadcorp SIS in the UK public sector will continue to grow", he added.
