Ordnance Survey Ireland and Scottish Executive purchase Cadcorp SIS Map Modellers

Cadcorp, the developer of the popular Cadcorp SIS - Spatial Information System - digital mapping/GIS software suite, today announced a pair of orders from Scottish and Irish government agencies for Map Modeller licences.

Ordnance Survey Ireland, (OSI) chose Map Modeller after an exhaustive evaluation. Map Modeller is Cadcorp’s premier desktop GIS package which features extensive data loading, editing, analysis and output tools. Amongst other tasks, OSI are utilising Cadcorp SIS as a data ‘clearing house’ to load, integrate and export digital data to a wide range of formats. OSI is one of a number of national mapping agencies now using Cadcorp SIS.

John O’Reilly, Digital Sales, OSI stated: “Ordnance Survey Ireland recognises the diverse requirements in the rapidly expanding business of Digital mapping supply. The acquisition of the Cadcorp SIS Map Modeller has provided us with a multi-functional application which allows us fast importing and exporting of a large range of formats. The intuitive interface and the online support allow us to fully explore the available tools and manage our datasets effectively”.

The Scottish Executive Geographic Information Service has a diverse range of responsibilities for GIS analysis and service provision to the Scottish government. Following a number of demonstrations and a product evaluation, the decision was taken to purchase Cadcorp SIS Map Modeller to complement their existing software and activities.

The loading and rendering of Ordnance Survey products has been simplicity itself while the wide range of directly supported data formats gives us a flexibility that we had been lacking”.
