Held in Cadcorp’s main office in Stevenage, UK, this was the second gathering of Cadcorp SIS users from the UK brigades since Cadcorp entered the market in 2002. Attendees included customers from East Sussex, Oxfordshire, Royal Berkshire, Strathclyde and West Midlands Fire and Rescue Services, along with Cadcorp’s emergency services partners, SSi Solutions and MIS, both of whom sell Cadcorp SIS driven solutions for the emergency services. Staff from the Ordnance Survey, a major supplier of digital data to the fire brigades, also attended.

Cadcorp outlined a number of new software developments of interest to fire brigade customers. This, along with presentations made by users and partners, plus a free and wide ranging discussion, made up the busy day’s agenda.

Alan Lee-Bourke, Data Services Department Manager, Strathclyde Fire Brigade stated: “The recent Fire user group helped reinforce Cadcorp's commitment to generic GIS functionality and demonstrated how some specific fire brigade GIS drivers will be addressed. Particularly impressive was the on-going commitment to the interoperability of GIS formats”.

John Ball, IT Manager, Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service said: “The Cadcorp user group provided an excellent forum to exchange ideas on use of the Cadcorp products with other users and to hear about new developments of the product”.

Martina Doolan, Data Services Manager, West Midlands Fire & Rescue Service stated: “I found the day very useful and an ideal opportunity to share ideas with other Cadcorp users within the same sector”.

Richard Motara, Sales Executive, Ordnance Survey, added: “From a personal viewpoint, I found the whole day invaluable, learning about the issues from a wider audience than the small base I manage. It's also an aspiration of my team to get closer to our Partners and their partners too. Such events facilitate this…The day worked well as it offered various bodies opportunities to present and because the group was a good size, discussion was free and open”.
