Cadcorp supplies desktop GIS to West Midlands Fire

Cadcorp, the developer of the popular Cadcorp SIS - Spatial Information System - digital mapping and GIS software suite, today announced that it has won a tender to supply desktop GIS software and services to West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service (WMFS).

WMFS have placed an order for a number of Cadcorp SIS desktop licences. These are to be used by the Data Management Department and work in conjunction with existing systems operated by the brigade, headquartered in Birmingham, UK.

The Map Modeller and Map Editor software will principally be used to maintain the Brigade 'Map Book' which is extensively used by operational personnel. Map Modeller and Map Editor are sophisticated desktop GIS packages which feature extensive data loading, editing, analysis and output tools.

Martina Doolan, Data Services Manager, WMFS stated: "We chose the Cadcorp products because they were able to manipulate our existing datasets as well as integrate many other data formats including Ordnance Survey MasterMap."
