Press ReleaseOne of Europe’s Largest Fire Brigades orders Cadcorp SIS licences Strathclyde Fire Brigade to use Cadcorp SIS Map Modeller, Map Manager and mSIS GIS software for brigade-wide data collection and analysis. Cadcorp, the developer of the popular Cadcorp SIS - Spatial Information System - digital mapping/GIS software suite, today announced that Strathclyde Fire Brigade (SFB) have ordered a number of Cadcorp SIS software licences. SFB has a Data Services department responsible for data collection and analysis. They decided to select Cadcorp SIS as the GIS of choice for brigade-wide spatial analysis. The Map Modeller and Map Manager desktop software purchased will be used for analysing fire brigade incident data for operational and reporting purposes in line with government directives. In addition, the mobile data capture package, Cadcorp mSIS, is set to be used for the collection of water hydrant information. Alan Lee-Bourke, SFB’s Data Services Department Manager stated: “I had heard many good reports about Cadcorp software from other fire brigades in the UK. A key factor in our decision to purchase was Professor Robert Barr's 2003 review of Cadcorp SIS V6 in GI News. I have known Bob for many years and his opinion carries a lot of weight in the GIS community. Format support was another key factor. Cadcorp SIS’s support of many data sources ‘out-of-the-box’ is probably unparalleled - certainly in the UK. Cadcorp SIS, among its many other benefits, is becoming a de-facto standard for data interoperability”. Mike O’Neil, Managing Director, Cadcorp added. “We welcome Strathclyde Fire Brigade to the ever growing number of Fire Services using Cadcorp SIS. They are our first Scottish Fire user and are very significant in being one of the largest and most diverse fire and rescue operations in Europe . We are extremely pleased that they recognise and value the key strengths we have built into our GIS software and hope that this is the start of a long-standing and productive relationship”. In recent months Cadcorp has announced Fire Service sales of Cadcorp SIS to the East Sussex , Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Services.
