Bristol, London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Dublin and Southampton were the venues for a mornings event covering subjects tackling:

  • How Cadcorp offers the most flexible, technically robust and cost effective solutions for handling Ordnance Survey digital data. Delegates discovered how OS MasterMap, (the new, highly detailed street level map product from Ordnance Survey), can be handled by all types and size of user using Cadcorp software.
  • An introduction to Cadcorp mSIS (mobile Spatial Information System). PocketPC based, mSIS is an effective way of managing data capture in the field and a platform to work effectively with Cadcorp SIS and other vendors GIS products.
  • How the Web has been used by many Cadcorp customers to effectively distribute geographic information around the enterprise.
  • A comprehensive presentation of the highly regarded Cadcorp SIS - Spatial Information System software family. The software family that is certified OpenGIS compliant; reads over 50 formats 'out of the box' without translation; shares the same source code, sports a common interface and is fully interoperable.

Delegates included those from government, local government, emergency services, software houses and ports authorities. Ordnance Survey provided a speaker for each venue and the final event, in Southampton, was held in the Ordnance Survey Business Centre.

"Dublin was a particularly memorable event", stated Martin McGarry, Head of Sales, Cadcorp. "It was our first outing of this type in Ireland and we were very impressed by the level of turnout, interest and quality of delegate that made the trip to see us. Looking at all the Road Shows, it was an excellent way to spread the word about Cadcorp. It was clear from delegate feedback that the event was valued. Subjects such as OS MasterMap, Web-Based GIS, mobile data capture and GIS interoperability are at the forefront of the GIS technical agenda and are important to many users of geographic information", he added.

About Cadcorp SIS

Cadcorp SIS - Spatial Information System - is a suite of Windows-based and Web-enabled end user and developer digital mapping and geographic information system (GIS) software products. The desktop suite comprises: Map Viewer, which provides support for over 50 graphic and data formats, thematics and hard copy; Map Manager, which provides the mainstream user the ability to view, explore, query, symbolise and print digital map and associated tabular data; Map Editor, which in addition to the facilities provided by Map Manager, provides the GIS data custodian with tools to view, manage and edit map and tabular data; and Map Modeller, which adds 3D modelling, terrain analysis and several thematic and analytic mapping tools.

ActiveX based developer toolkits and Viewer, Manager and Modeller based runtime licences are popular products for the development and implementation of bespoke applications by third parties that take advantage of Cadcorp’s GIS know-how.

Cadcorp ASC (Active Server Component) extends the functionality of Cadcorp SIS for use over the Internet or a company-wide intranet. It is a dynamic, server-side Web-based GIS, not merely a map-publishing tool for pre-authored images. Cadcorp ASC provides a true, interactive Web-based solution for real time map creation and analysis.

Cadcorp SIS MasterMap Loader is supplied with Map Modeller for the loading and management of OS MasterMap data in relational databases.

Cadcorp apSIS is programmable component software for the development of geospatial applications for the desktop and Pocket PC platforms.

Cadcorp mSIS is a data collection package that incorporates a desktop data capture management application and a Pocket PC based data collection tool.
