Elmbridge Borough Council opts for Cadcorp SIS for its new GIS

Cadcorp, developer of the pioneering Cadcorp SIS - Spatial Information System GIS software, is pleased to announce that Elmbridge Borough Council has just purchased a number of licences of Cadcorp SIS software.

This initial order, which includes copies of Cadcorp SIS Map Manager, Map Editor and Map Modeller, is also supplimented with Cadcorp mSIS, the new Pocket PC based data collection tool. mSIS combines the ability to set up data capture projects on the desktop and download and upload projects from the PocketPC based data capture package.

Elmbridge Borough Council is an experienced user of GIS software. Key to its selection of Cadcorp SIS for its latest GIS development was the ability of the software to access a wide range of native GIS, CAD and database formats, including Ordnance Survey MasterMap data, without recourse to translation. Without the need for costly middleware, Cadcorp SIS will enable Elmbridge B.C. to load MasterMap data directly into its chosen relational database management system and to manage Ordnance Survey’s change-only updates as they become available.

Commenting on some of the facilities of Cadcorp SIS soon after the software had been installed, a member of the council’s GIS team stated that, from his existing land and property gazetteer, it had taken him only about 10 minutes to create a gazetteer in Cadcorp SIS that loaded automatically over the network onto a remote machine on start-up. It had given them the most comprehensive gazetteer to date within the council.

Cadcorp SIS - Spatial Information System - is a suite of Windows-based and Web-enabled end user and developer digital mapping and geographic information system (GIS) software products. Cadcorp SIS OS MasterMap Loader is supplied with Cadcorp SIS Map Modeller for the loading and management of Ordnance Survey MasterMap data in relational databases.

Cadcorp apSIS is programmable component software for the development of geospatial applications for the desktop and Pocket PC platforms.

Cadcorp mSIS is a data collection package that incorporates a desktop data capture management application and a Pocket PC based data collection tool.
