Press Release

Cadcorp now listed on S-CAT for UK public sector procurement

Cadcorp, developer of the pioneering Cadcorp SIS - Spatial Information System GIS software, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded an S-CAT framework agreement for category 15, GIS software.

S-CAT is a catalogue based procurement scheme to provide UK public sector organisations with a simplified, centralised method of procuring, and contracting for a wide range of consultancy and specialist services from a variety of service providers. Category 15 is a new category to be added in 2003 and will help public sector organisations in their selection of GIS products and services. As part of this agreement, Cadcorp software and services are recommended for use by Local and Central Government.

Cadcorp has a long experience in serving public sector customers in the UK and abroad. Over sixty UK local authorities, half the UK ambulance services and central government customers such as the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), The Rural Payment Agency (RPA), The Hydrospatial and Coastguard Agency (MCGA) and Welsh Health Estates use Cadcorp software and services. Bidding for inclusion in S-CAT is therfore a natural and important step for Cadcorp to make.

Cadcorp's S-CAT listed service offerings are as follows:

  • 15b - Evaluation, Analysis and Management of Geospatial Data
  • 15c - GIS Application and Software Development
  • 15d - Provision of Software Value Added Services
  • 15h - Webmap Authoring

Mike O'Neil, Managing Director, Cadcorp stated: “This is an important milestone for Cadcorp and our software and services in the public sector. Local and central government business has been integral to Cadcorp since we entered the GIS business and continues to be a key area of focus and effort for us. Being listed on S-CAT makes procurement easier for our potential customers and also places us in the right shop window for future public sector procurement exercises".

More about Cadcorp SIS

Cadcorp SIS - Spatial Information System - is a suite of Windows-based and Web-enabled end user and developer digital mapping and geographic information system (GIS) software products. The desktop suite comprises: Map Viewer, which provides support for over 50 graphic and data formats, thematic and hard copy; Map Manager, which provides the mainstream user the ability to view, explore, query, symbolise and print digital map and associated tabular data; Map Editor, which in addition to the facilities provided by Map Manager, provides the GIS data custodian with tools to view, manage and edit map and tabular data; and Map Modeller, which adds 3D modelling, terrain analysis and several thematic and analytic mapping tools.

ActiveX based developer toolkits and Viewer, Manager and Modeller based runtime licences are popular products for the development and implementation of bespoke applications by third parties that take advantage of Cadcorp’s GIS know-how.

Cadcorp ASC (Active Server Component) extends the functionality of Cadcorp SIS for use over the Internet or a company-wide intranet. It is a dynamic, server-side Web-based GIS, not merely a map-publishing tool for pre-authored images. Cadcorp ASC provides a true, interactive Web-based solution for real time map creation and analysis.

Cadcorp SIS OS MasterMap Loader is supplied with Cadcorp SIS Map Modeller for the loading and management of Ordnance Survey MasterMap data in relational databases. Cadcorp apSIS is programmable component software for the development of geospatial
applications for the desktop and Pocket PC platforms.

Cadcorp mSIS is a data collection package that incorporates a desktop data capture management application and a Pocket PC based data collection tool.
