German Municipality of Bissendorf integrates GIS data with Cadcorp SIS

The Municipality of Bissendorf, (set in the district of Osnabruck, Germany), now uses Cadcorp SIS – Spatial Information System to administer it’s cadastral information and to integrate that data with water supply and drainage for the whole area.

This process has been made simple using Cadcorp SIS software by using a topologically structured approach to data analysis and capture of network information. By taking information from existing GIS software, the municipality is able to integrate and build complete areas of the city to include zone planning for new and existing developments, green park areas, and traffic planning. This has been accomplished by loading over 30 different formats held by the Municipality to build the data model for the city - a simple task for Cadcorp SIS with it’s on-the-fly data reading capability that allows users to look at the data before importing it into the system. For example, imported data from the various engineer's offices can be easily merged and integrated from the DXF and DWG format without difficulty. Cadcorp SIS also allows the easy integration of raster cards (DGK5) and aerial photographs.

“The Municipality of Bissendorf is an example of how even smaller German municipalities can become extremely successful in the implementation of modern technologies using an innovative GIS application”. Stated Klaus Scholle from local supplier and Cadcorp business partner Promegis.

About Cadcorp SIS

Cadcorp SIS - Spatial Information System - is a suite of Windows-based and Web-enabled end user and developer digital mapping and geographic information system (GIS) software products. The suite comprises: Map Viewer, which provides support for over 45 graphic and data formats, thematics and hard copy; Map Manager, which provides the mainstream user the ability to view, explore, query, symbolise and print digital map and associated tabular data; Map Editor, which in addition to the facilities provided by Map Manager, provides the GIS data custodian with tools to view, manage and edit map and tabular data; and Map Modeller, which adds 3D modelling, terrain analysis and several thematic and analytic mapping tools.

Cadcorp ASC (Active Server Component) extends the functionality of Cadcorp SIS for use over the Internet or a company-wide intranet. It is a dynamic, server-side Web-based GIS, not merely a map publishing tool for pre-authored images.
